Nekeisha is a first year MA student in Clinical Psychology at TMU. She graduated from the University of Toronto Scarborough with an Honours BSc specializing in Psychology. For Nekeisha’s undergraduate thesis, she investigated the role of cultural variables, such as individualism and collectivism in explaining cross-cultural differences in mental health perceptions among university students- namely, attitudes toward mental illness and seeking psychological professional help. Nekeisha has a strong interest in improving the mental health and well-being among youth, particularly that of youth who have experienced marginalization. She is particularly interested in examining the relationships among emotion regulation and mental health and supporting the development and evaluation of interventions that support youth well-being from an intersectional lens. In her free time, Nekeisha enjoys reading, cooking, and crocheting!
