Dr. Su is a research associate in the Cognitive Aging Lab. Dr. Su received her Ph. D in Social and Personality Psychology at York University in Toronto of Canada in fall of 2010. She worked as a post-doctoral research fellowship at Department of Psychology at York University in fall of 2009. She continued her second Lillian Wright post-doctoral research fellow at 2013 and her third Meighen Wright postdoctoral fellowship at Women Mental Health Research Centre at Faculty of Health in York University in 2017. Dr. Su has over fifteen years of teaching and research experiences in psychological area in Canada. Dr. Su’s research interests include cultural differences in parenting styles, and cultural differences in experiences and responses to shame and guilt, perfectionism, perfectionism and mental health, and the effect of stress, social support and traditional Chinese cultural beliefs on Chinese immigrant mothers of children with developmental disabilities in Canada by using qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and her currently involving the senior Chinese acculturation and mental health wellbeing amid COVID-19 pandemic. One of her thesis which is “Effects of Life Stress, Social Support and Cultural Norms on Parenting Styles among Mainland Chinese, European-Canadian and Chinese-Canadian Immigrant Mothers” was rewarded by CERIS” Centre of Excellence in Research on Immigration and Settlement ” Research Scholarship in Canada in 2007. Dr. Su received the John W. Berry Award for best paper/oral presentation in International / Cross-Cultural Section of Canadian Psychological Association in 2010. Dr. Su taught a variety of psychological courses in Universities/Colleges in Canada since 2008. The courses which she taught include Introduction to Psychology, Intermediate Research Methods, Social Psychology, Cultural Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Couples Therapy, Assessing Complementary Therapy, Counselling Methodology, Research Methods in Counselling, and The Principles of Learning.
