Congratulations to Amy Brown-Bowers, who successfully defended her doctoral dissertation on May 24, 2016, entitled, “Couples coping with prostate cancer: Women and men (re)negotiating discourses of gender, sexuality and intimate relationships.” The external examiner for Amy’s dissertation noted that this is “a superb piece of work….based on a thorough, rigorous, and sensitively conducted piece of research”; “throughout there was a sense of both confidence and competence about the work and I’m in no doubt that it’ll provide a strong basis for several publications.”

The committee unanimously nominated Amy for the Governor General’s Gold Medal Award, for the outstanding work on her dissertation, her CGPA and her research record.
