The SHiFT Lab stands with Black Lives Matter. We are here to listen and to educate ourselves further about the historical and current systemic anti-Black racism that Black people face everyday in Canada, the U.S., and around the World.

At this time, we would like to share two articles addressing the recent murder of George Floyd by a police officer while other officers stood watch, and police brutality more broadly. It is imperative that we understand what happened to George Floyd as the horrific crime that it is but also as a crime that not isolated or attributable to “a few bad eggs” in the police force. Anti-Black racist police brutality is insidious.
