Lorraine Hansberry was an American playwright and writer, as well as the first African-American female author to have a play be produced on broadway. By the ripe age of 29, Lorraine Hansberry was able to bring her drama, and play, A Raisin in the Sun to life. A Raisin in the Sun is a performative recount of the lives of Black Americans living under racial segregation in the state of Chicago.
