Congratulations to Angela Lachowski, who successfully defended her doctoral dissertation entitled “An Investigation of Cardiac Indices in Normal Sleepers and Those with Insomnia Disorder” examined whether the previously reported cardiac risk that insomnia confers is attributable to the method of measurement. This was an ambitious and complicated project involving the collection of advanced cardiac index data during a highly controlled challenge paradigm. This project complements many studies suggesting that insomnia may not directly related to cardiovascular disorder risk, but may perhaps be a mediator through its influence on modifiable risk behaviours such as activity or eating. Congratulations, Angela!!
